Problem
We believe that facilitating informative entertainment for curious users that enjoy great storytelling will allow them to create meaningful memories with their friends and family.
Solution
We observed that users needed new experiences and the sense of being in control in order to be entertained without fear. We will achieve this by creating a customizable adventure that is both immersive and engaging.
Research
Objective
We want to discover if and when users take guided tours and whether or not they have an interest in AR experiences as well as their level of interest in “spooky” experiences.
Sample Size
We conducted 14 user interviews and surveyed 90 users in our quest to find out where the line between entertainment and fear was for most people.
User Persona
User Insight
Ryan needs an informative and engaging entertainment experience for his friends and family to share, which takes into account different needs for immersion, sensory stimulation, and excitement.
Key Takeaways
Because "tour guides" was a very big scope, we decided to focus on ghost tours for the sake of this project
Assumptions
We are operated under the assumptions that:
• Some of our technologies and devices do not currently exist

• There is a higher grade of WiFi access everywhere
Empathy Map
Loss of control was the largest pain point for users experiencing something new

The majority of users wanted to be educated or have some sort of challenge during their tour experience, but without the pressure
Competitor Analysis
Competitors offered advanced interactivity, user control and weren’t as tech-heavy as our initial iteration of the devices that would link to the app
Feature Prioritization Matrix
• Having a conversation with a ghost
• Having a fun or interesting tour guide
• Being able to escape reality
• Technology that could tell what you’re interested in automatically

Postmortem
We learned early on to really define our scope of the project so we wouldn’t experience scope creep. With a project that covers such a large topic as "tours" it was important that we focus our efforts into demoing one specific type of tour. In our case, that was a ghost tour.

In the future we want to set up a kiosk that will allow users to sign up for the tour of their choice on site.

Additional features for future iterations include:
• More ghost tours
• Cultural and historical tours (museums, landmarks, etc.)
• Custom user-created tours
