Research

Objective

We want to understand a person’s cooking and eating habits, and the various factors that may lead to food waste.

Sample Size

A survey of 46 individuals, and

10 one-on-one interviews

User Insight

Adults need more effective and engaging ways to prepare and stick to meal plans, because impromptu grocery shopping and not committing to eating what was bought leads to food waste.

User Persona

Meet Kris

Postmortem

Going into this project, we initially wanted to create a community cooking app that allowed neighbors to share their ingredients in order to eliminate having to buy large portions of ingredients for small portion cooking. We had already started with a solution without understanding the problem we were trying to solve.

It was through discovering the problem that we realized we aren't trying to create convenient cooking, we are trying to solve food waste.

Upon making this early discovery, we shifted our focus and crafted an app that solved the problem we didn't know we had in a fun and exciting way.

Additional features for future iterations include:

     • Pantry Inventory

     • Enhance achievements page with growing garden concept
